What piercings use curved barbells?

Curved barbells are commonly used for eyebrow piercings (16G, 8mm or 10mm), rook piercings (16G, 6mm or 8mm), vertical labret piercings (16G, 8mm or 10mm) and anti-tragus piercings (16G, 6mm or 8mm). Each placement has its own sizing requirements, so it's important to choose the right length for where you're wearing it. This collection does not include navel jewellery. How do I choose the right size curved barbell?

The right size depends on your placement and where you are in the healing process. Fresh piercings are usually fitted with a slightly longer bar to allow for swelling, and then downsized once the initial healing phase is over. For example, an eyebrow piercing might start at 10mm and be downsized to 8mm. Your piercing specialist will fit the correct size on the day and advise when it's time to downsize.

What materials are curved barbells available in?

You'll find curved barbells in Surgical Steel, Titanium and 14kt Gold. For healing piercings, implant-grade Titanium is the recommended choice because it's nickel-free and biocompatible. Surgical Steel is a popular option for healed piercings, though it's not hypoallergenic. If you have sensitive skin, stick with Titanium or Gold for the most comfortable wear.

When can I change my curved barbell?

Keep your original jewellery in place until your piercing specialist confirms it's safe to swap. Healing times vary by placement. Eyebrow and vertical labret piercings can take 6 to 12 months, while rook and anti-tragus piercings are typically in the 6 to 12 month range as well. Changing too early can cause irritation or setbacks. Once healed, you can switch between different curved barbell styles and decorative tops.

Are curved barbells the same as navel bars?

No, they're not. While they share a similar curved shape, navel bars are a specific style designed for belly piercings and are sized differently.
