What ID to bring to your piercing appointment
We love helping you achieve your piercing goals, but before we start, we need to make sure all age and ID requirements are met. These rules are in place to protect you, ensure compliance with legislation, and uphold our commitment to safe, professional piercing across Australia and New Zealand.
Age & Consent Guide.

When you'll need to show ID.
Lobe Piercings (Cartridge) – Ages 6 months to 15 years
- Parent/guardian must attend and provide photo ID.
- Proof of guardianship (e.g. Medicare card, birth certificate).
Standard Needle Piercings – Ages 5 to 15 years (or 5 to 17 in WA)
- Parent/guardian must consent in person.
- Child must show ID confirming name and DOB.
All Piercings – 16+ years (18+ years in WA)
You must be 16 years and over to receive a piercing without parental consent (or 18 years in WA). If you are over 16 you will be asked to provide ID that confirms your NAME, DOB and PHOTO. This can be either be one form of ID showing your Name, DOB and Photo OR 2 forms of ID which confirm these requirements (eg: a formal school ID that shows Name and Photo AND a birth certificate that shows matching Name and DOB).
Restricted 18+ years Piercings
- This must be an original copy or through an official government app - pictures or photos of licences etc will not be accepted.
- Applies to nipple and genital piercings.
Proving parental or guardian relationship
To sign a consent form, you must be the legal parent or guardian.
Proof of relationship may include:
- Medicare card or birth certificate showing both names
- MyGov, Centrelink or Medicare app showing linked profiles
- Guardianship or care order
- Written approval from Department of Child Services (for foster care)
Accepted forms of ID.
