Body Jewellery at SkinKandy

Body jewellery at SkinKandy covers piercing jewellery for navel, nipple and tongue placements, in Titanium, Surgical Steel and Gold. Navel jewellery is fitted as a 14G navel curved bar in 8mm, 10mm or 11mm lengths, nipple jewellery as a 14G barbell or clicker in 12mm, 14mm or 16mm, and tongue jewellery as a 14G barbell at 14mm to 16mm. This collection suits anyone piercing or restyling a placement below the neck, from a first navel piercing to a jewellery refresh for a healed nipple or tongue piercing. Whatever placement you're shopping for, we've got sizing, materials and styles sorted.

What jewellery styles are included in body jewellery?

Body jewellery includes navel bars, navel dangles and navel clickers for navel piercings, straight barbells and clickers for nipple piercings, and barbells for tongue piercings. Navel jewellery is worn as a navel curved bar rather than a curved barbell, since navel bars are 14G and shaped specifically for the belly button placement. Nipple jewellery is available as a straight barbell or as a clicker style with a hinged front, which makes it easier to change once your piercing is fully healed. Whatever placement you're shopping for, our piercing specialists can help you pick a style that suits your body and your stage of healing.

What gauge and length do I need for body jewellery?

Sizing for body jewellery depends on the placement: navel bars are 14G in 8mm, 10mm or 11mm lengths, nipple barbells are 14G in 12mm, 14mm or 16mm, and tongue barbells are 14G in 14mm to 16mm. A longer bar is usually fitted for a fresh piercing to allow room for swelling, then downsized once the area has settled. Getting the length right matters for comfort, since a bar that's too short can put pressure on the piercing, while one that's too long can shift and snag on clothing. Our piercing specialists measure every placement in studio, so you always leave with the correct fit.

What materials are body jewellery available in?

Body jewellery at SkinKandy is available in Titanium, Surgical Steel and Gold. Surgical Steel is used for fresh piercings in studio, though it contains trace nickel, so Titanium or Gold are the better choice if you have a nickel sensitivity. Titanium is lightweight and well suited to nipple and navel piercings, which both take longer to heal than most ear placements. Gold is a popular choice once you're fully healed and ready to upgrade to a more premium everyday piece.

Navel bar vs nipple barbell, what's the difference?

A navel bar and a nipple barbell are both 14G, but they're shaped and sized differently for their placement. A navel curved bar has a gentle curve to sit comfortably around the belly button in 8mm, 10mm or 11mm lengths, while a nipple barbell is straight, in 12mm, 14mm or 16mm lengths, to sit flat through the nipple piercing. Wearing the wrong shape in the wrong placement can cause pressure and discomfort, which is why we don't recommend using the curved barbell collection for navel jewellery. If you're unsure which style your placement needs, our piercing specialists can confirm the right fit in studio.

How long does it take for body piercings to heal?

Healing times vary by placement: belly button piercings typically take 6 to 12 months to fully heal, and nipple piercings follow a similar timeline. Do not remove your jewellery during the healing phase, since taking it out too early can cause the piercing to close or become irritated. Keep the area clean as directed by your piercing specialists, and avoid unnecessary movement or pressure on the jewellery while it settles. For more detail on what to expect at each stage, our aftercare page covers cleaning and healing in full.
