Nipple Piercing Jewellery at SkinKandy

Nipple piercing jewellery at SkinKandy is fitted at 14G, in 12mm, 14mm or 16mm lengths, with barbell and clicker styles designed for this placement. It's available in Surgical Steel, Titanium and 14K Gold, covering both fresh piercings and healed upgrades. Surgical Steel is what our piercing specialists use most often for fresh nipple piercings in studio, while Titanium and 14K Gold suit sensitive skin better. Read our guide to nipple piercings for more on what to expect from the piercing itself.

What jewellery styles are used for nipple piercings?

Nipple piercings are most commonly fitted with a straight barbell, often called a nipple bar, sitting through the placement with a ball or decorative end on each side. A clicker is also available, using a hinged mechanism that's easier to open and close than a barbell. Both styles are fitted to the same gauge, so the choice comes down to how you prefer the jewellery to open and close rather than sizing. Your piercing specialist can talk you through both options at your appointment.

What gauge and length do nipple piercings use?

Nipple piercings are fitted at 14G, typically in 12mm, 14mm or 16mm lengths, with the exact length depending on your anatomy and the amount of swelling expected during healing. A piece that's too short can be uncomfortable as swelling settles in the first few weeks, while one that's too long may shift more than needed. Your piercing specialist fits a length that allows for some initial swelling, then can help you size down once healing progresses. Barbells and clickers both use the same 14G gauge, so sizing doesn't change based on which style you choose.

What materials suit nipple piercings?

Surgical Steel is what our piercing specialists use for fresh nipple piercings in studio, and it's a safe, valid choice while you heal. It does contain trace nickel, so it isn't hypoallergenic, and Titanium or 14K Gold are better suited if you have sensitive skin. All three materials are available across the barbell and clicker styles in this nipple jewellery collection. Do not remove your jewellery during the healing phase regardless of which material you choose.

How long does a nipple piercing take to heal, and how do I care for it?

Nipple piercings take several months to heal, and healing time varies more than most placements depending on aftercare and individual factors, so your piercing specialist is the best guide for your specific timeline. Clean the piercing as advised by your piercing specialist, using a saline solution rather than harsh soaps directly on the jewellery. Avoid tight or rough fabric rubbing against a fresh piercing, and choose soft, breathable clothing where possible. Do not remove your jewellery during the healing phase, as this can cause the piercing to close and make reinsertion difficult.

Should I choose a barbell or a clicker for a nipple piercing?

A barbell is a straight bar with a ball or decorative end that unscrews on one or both sides, and it's the more traditional choice for a fresh nipple piercing. A clicker uses a hinged opening instead of a screw thread, making it quicker to open and close once your piercing has settled. Both are fitted at the same 14G gauge, so neither option changes your sizing. Your piercing specialist can help you decide which suits your routine and how healed your piercing is.
