How old do you have to be to get pierced?
What Type of Piercing Can You Have?
Here at Skinkandy we take our responsibilities towards our clients and to society very seriously indeed. When it comes to safety and consent, we don’t just err on the side of caution, we drive right over it whilst wearing belts and braces.
Our age guidelines aren’t open to negotiation. With some types of piercing you have to prove that you’re over 18. If it’s your 18th birthday the very next day, we’ll make your appointment for the very next day – not a minute earlier.
Rules are rules and here they are.
If you’re six months or younger…
We’ll assume all you’re interested in is milk so we won’t trouble you further.
If you’re between six months and 16 years of age…
You’ll need a parental consent form for all types of piercing, as well as (in QLD), evidence of Medicare. In QLD your parent or guardian doesn’t have to be present, but in VIC they do.
If you’re between six months and 16 years of age…
You’ll need a parental consent form for all types of piercing and evidence of a parent/Guardian on a Medicare card. Depending what state you are in will determine if a parent needs to be present ( check out the age calculator below for more deets).
If you’re between 16 and 18 years of age…
You can have dahlias, staples, venoms and dermals with a parental consent form as well as Medicare evidence (just like above).
For all other piercings you’ll need to provide photo ID with your DOB and a 16+consent form.
If you’re over 18…
The world is Oyster and you can choose anything from the piercing menu ( including genitals, nipples and cheeks) Just remember you’ll need some photo ID with DOB and you’ll need to fill out a 18+ consent form.. I'm a big kid now!
