Crystal Earrings at SkinKandy

SkinKandy's Crystal Earrings collection features cubic zirconia-set studs and flatbacks for lobe and cartilage placements like tragus, helix and conch. CZ stones are set into a Surgical Steel, Titanium or 14K Gold base, giving a sparkling, diamond-like look at a more accessible price point than genuine gemstones. This collection covers both fresh piercings and healed upgrades. Our guide to cubic zirconia jewellery covers CZ care and quality in more detail.

What crystal earring styles are available?

Lobe piercings use CZ-set studs, fitted at 18G or 20G. Cartilage placements like tragus, helix and conch use CZ-set flatbacks at 16G, qualified as flatbacks rather than generic studs for these placements. Stone sizes range from small, subtle settings to larger statement pieces. Your piercing specialist can recommend the right style and size for your placement.

What size are crystal earrings available in?

Lobe studs are fitted at 18G or 20G, while cartilage flatbacks for tragus, helix and conch are fitted at 16G, most commonly at 6mm or 8mm once healed. The stone setting itself doesn't change the gauge or post length, since the CZ sits on top of a standard post or disc. Your piercing specialist will confirm the correct gauge and length for your placement before fitting any new piece.

Can crystal earrings be worn in a fresh piercing?

Yes, Surgical Steel CZ studs and flatbacks are what our piercing specialists use for fresh piercings in studio, so they suit the healing phase well. Titanium and 14K Gold CZ pieces are also available if you have sensitive skin or would rather avoid Surgical Steel's trace nickel. Do not remove your jewellery during the healing phase, as this can cause the piercing to close and make reinsertion difficult. Your piercing specialist can talk you through material options at your appointment.

How do I care for crystal earrings?

Clean the piercing as advised by your piercing specialist, using a saline solution rather than any product applied directly to the jewellery or stone setting. Avoid harsh chemicals, perfumes and lotions coming into direct contact with the CZ stone, since these can dull its sparkle over time. Gently pat the area dry rather than rubbing the stone with a towel. Our aftercare guide has the full routine for whichever placement you've chosen.

Should I choose a crystal stud or a plain metal stud?

A crystal stud sets a CZ stone into the top of the post, giving a sparkling finish for the same gauge and placement as a plain stud. A plain metal stud skips the stone for a simpler, lower-profile look that's less likely to catch light or attention. Both are available in Surgical Steel, Titanium and 14K Gold across the same lobe and cartilage placements. Your piercing specialist can help you decide based on the look you're after.
