Is titanium better than surgical steel for sensitive ears?
Yes, Titanium is the better option for sensitive skin, since it doesn't contain the trace nickel found in Surgical Steel. Surgical Steel is safe for most people and is what our piercing specialists use for fresh piercings in studio, but it isn't hypoallergenic. If you know you react to nickel, or you'd rather avoid it from the start, ask your piercing specialist about Titanium for your fresh piercing. Do not remove your jewellery during the healing phase, even if you're planning to switch materials later.

Clean the piercing as advised by your piercing specialist, using a saline solution rather than any product applied directly to the jewellery. Titanium resists corrosion well, so it holds up to daily showering and activity without much extra care.
