Nostril Jewellery at SkinKandy
SkinKandy's Nostril Jewellery collection features L-bend studs, nose twists, flatbacks and bendable or segment rings, fitted at 18G or 20G, in Surgical Steel, Titanium and 14K Gold. High nostril piercings use a slightly different setup at 16G. This collection covers fresh nostril piercings through to healed ring upgrades.
What jewellery styles suit a nostril piercing?
Nostril piercings suit L-bend studs, nose twists, flatbacks and bendable rings, all fitted at 18G or 20G. L-bend studs have an angled post for a flush fit, while flatbacks use a similar low-profile disc back. Bendable and segment rings are a popular option once the piercing has healed, and a high nostril piercing is fitted with a 16G flatback at 8mm instead.
What gauge is standard nostril jewellery?
Standard nostril piercings are fitted at 18G or 20G, while a high nostril piercing uses 16G. This difference matters if you're shopping for a specific piece, since 16G jewellery won't fit a standard 18G or 20G nostril piercing. Your piercing specialist will confirm the exact gauge for your piercing before fitting new jewellery.
Can I wear a Titanium stud in a fresh nostril piercing?
Surgical Steel is what our piercing specialists use for fresh nostril piercings in studio, and it's a safe, valid choice while you heal. Surgical Steel can be used in fresh piercings, though our piercing specialists recommend implant grade Titanium or 14K Gold during the healing phase, since Titanium doesn't carry the trace nickel found in Surgical Steel. Do not remove your jewellery during the healing phase, as this can cause the piercing to close.
How does an L-bend stud compare to a bendable ring?
An L-bend stud has an angled post that sits securely inside the nostril, giving a flush, minimal look with no visible back. A bendable ring is a flexible hoop that curves around the piercing and sits slightly more visible against the nostril, often used once a piercing has healed. Both are fitted at 18G or 20G, so the choice comes down to whether you prefer a subtle stud or a hoop-style finish.
