Titanium Earrings

Titanium Earrings at SkinKandy

SkinKandy's Titanium Earrings collection features implant grade Titanium studs and flatbacks for lobe and cartilage placements like tragus, helix and conch. Titanium is lightweight and free from the trace nickel found in Surgical Steel, making it a comfortable choice during healing or if you have sensitive skin. This collection covers both fresh piercings and healed upgrades. Our piercing specialists recommend Titanium as an alternative to Surgical Steel across most ear placements. Our Titanium earrings are made from ASTM F136 implant grade Titanium, and you can shop them online or visit one of our studios.

What titanium earring styles are available?

Lobe piercings use Titanium studs, fitted at 18G or 20G. Cartilage placements like tragus, helix and conch use Titanium flatbacks at 16G, and small Titanium hoops or segment rings are available once these placements have healed. Simple stud designs suit a first lobe piercing, while flatbacks with a gem or plain top suit cartilage. Your piercing specialist can recommend the right style for your placement.

What size are titanium earrings available in?

Lobe studs are fitted at 18G or 20G, while cartilage flatbacks for tragus, helix and conch are fitted at 16G, most commonly at 6mm or 8mm once healed. Hoops and segment rings for healed cartilage placements typically range from 6mm to 10mm in diameter. Your piercing specialist will confirm the correct gauge and length for your placement before fitting any new piece.

Is titanium better than surgical steel for sensitive ears?

Yes, Titanium is the better option for sensitive skin, since it doesn't contain the trace nickel found in Surgical Steel. Surgical Steel is safe for most people and is what our piercing specialists use for fresh piercings in studio, but it isn't hypoallergenic. If you know you react to nickel, or you'd rather avoid it from the start, ask your piercing specialist about Titanium for your fresh piercing. Do not remove your jewellery during the healing phase, even if you're planning to switch materials later.

How do I care for titanium earrings?

Clean the piercing as advised by your piercing specialist, using a saline solution rather than any product applied directly to the jewellery. Titanium resists corrosion well, so it holds up to daily showering and activity without much extra care. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaning products coming into contact with the jewellery where possible. Our aftercare guide has the full routine for whichever placement you've chosen.

Should I choose titanium or gold earrings?

Titanium gives a lightweight, cool-toned finish and is generally more affordable than 14K Gold earrings. Gold gives a warmer finish and is worth considering if you prefer the look of real gold or already wear other gold pieces. Both are nickel-free and suitable for sensitive skin, available across the same lobe and cartilage placements. Your piercing specialist can help you decide based on tone preference and budget.
